The Goonies and Indiana Jones’ star, Ke Huy Quan, explains why he quit acting for 20 years, before returning with Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Huy Quan opens up about why he quit acting for 20-years before making his recent return with Everything Everywhere All At Once. Quan was just 12-years-old when he was cast in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, alongside Harrison Ford. The role came unexpectedly when Quan tagged along with his older brother to the open audition, and the casting director happened to overhear him practicing lines with his brother. Quan was invited to audition and quickly booked the role of Jones’ personal assistant, Short Round.
Just one year later, Quan appeared in the adventure-comedy The Goonies, which has since become one of the most popular films of the 80s. Quan stood out in the film for his role as Data, an ingenious young inventor who frequently saves his friends with his supply of endless nifty tricks and gadgets. At just 14, Quan had starred in two major hits and even took home a Young Artist Award for Indiana Jones.
