Demicka Perry remembers the day when she decided to take the leap and start her own business.
She made the decision after a serious illness forced her to leave a longtime job.
“I had worked 22 years in the medical industry and all that I knew was helping people, but I had to decide what I wanted to do next because they told me that I would never be able to do what I had done,” Perry, owner of Heart and Mind Cleaning, said.
Perry remembers sitting at home and being consumed with worry that she would not be able to help her husband, Derrick Perry, provide for the family.
“He asked me what I wanted to do, and I was like ‘I want a laundry mat, but right now I would settle for a cleaning company,'” she said.
