AJ Casey, the No. 112 overall prospect in the 2022 class, has committed to Miami, a source told 247Sports.
The 6-foot-8, 180-pound prospect out of Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young committed to the Hurricanes over programs including Gonzaga, Michigan, Memphis, Ohio State and DePaul.
Casey is Miami’s third commitment in the 2022 class joining three-star commitments Christian Watson and Danilo Jovanovich, which now ranks as the No. 15 overall class in the 2022 Team Rankings and the No. 4 overall class in the ACC.
Casey is a versatile and athletic forward prospect who is at his best running in the open court. He is mobile and has bounce in space and is improving his half-court skillset on the offensive end.
In the half-court at this stage, he is at his best as a face-up four man who can straight-line drive other bigs and is a capable shooter off the catch from mid-range. In switch scenarios, he is also capable of taking his man down on the block and scoring in the low-post.
