Former Notre Dame football tight end George Takacs has made his transfer decision. He will be transferring to Boston College, Eagle Insider has confirmed. Pete Thamel was the first to report.
Takacs was a four-star recruit out of Naples (Fla.) Gulf Coastand the No. 14 tight end in the 2018 signing class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings. For the last couple of seasons, Takacs has played behind star tight end Michael Mayer. In Takacs’ three seasons with the Fighting Irish, he recorded eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
“I haven’t been around him too much,” Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley said Tuesday. “I’m excited to get to know him more. Obviously, once he entered the portal, that was a guy coach (offensive coordinator) John) McNulty had coached, had been around (at Notre Dame).
He spoke really highly of him as a person, which, you know, with me in the portal, character. Is he going to fit in here? Is he going to fit in the locker room? Can he help us? He answered yes to all those questions and I’m very excited that he’s here. He gives us … he’s tall, he’s fast and I hope for a lot of production.
