The Alabama Crimson Tide are basically reloading. For quarterback Bryce Young, he has two new weapons at his disposal heading into 2022. Transfers Jahmyr Gibbs, a running back from Georgia Tech, and Jermaine Burton, a wide receiver from Georgia, could be instant impact players. Alabama lost to Georgia in the national championship in January. Going into next season, Alabama could be back in the thick of the title race.
As spring practice rolled on, Young talked to the media about Gibbs and Burton being added to the team. “Yeah, Jahmyr has worked really hard,” Young told reporters. “He’s done a great job of coming in and, again, he’s someone who has really taken to the offense really well, someone who has done the little things right in our conditioning.
Every week, he was winning an award for being one of the top performers — someone who came in and looked good and worked and ran well last week. Again, I’m super excited, now, as we have these — we’re back to our normal spring schedule of every day. We’re meeting, we’re practicing. So I’m excited to continue to work with him and to continue to see him be successful. So it’s exciting for me as well.”
