Alabama football landed Georgia wide receiver Jermaine Burton Sunday night out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. It represents a much-needed get for the Crimson Tide, who replace several top targets from last season’s College Football Playoff runner-up arsenal, including Jameson Williams and John Metchie.
Burton entered the portal earlier this week along with Georgia quarterback JT Daniels, two of more than a dozen players for the national champions who has announced intentions to leave or depart for the NFL Draft since the season ended earlier this month.
Burton tallied 901 yards receiving and eight touchdowns on 53 receptions over two seasons with the Bulldogs. He scored on a 57-yarder against Michigan in the Orange Bowl and caught two passes for 28 yards against Alabama in the title game.
Here’s some of the reaction following Alabama’s splash landing of Burton.
Alabama reshaped its arsenal of weapons offensively alongside Bryce Young next season with Burton and Georgia Tech running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
