Auburn football’s first year under head coach Bryan Harsin had its extreme highs and lows, and it ultimately ended with five straight losses and a 6-7 record. Entering his second season on The Plains, Harsin has some things he can take away from the 2021 campaign.
On the first day of Auburn’s spring practice, Harsin spoke about his lessons learned from 2021. Harsin knows he and his team have to find a way to avoid stumbling down the stretch this fall, but he also discovered that every single day matters in the SEC. Successful programs cannot afford to take days off.
“Yeah, finish strong, right,” Harsin said. “That’s one thing. Look, you want to win every game. We didn’t like the way we finished — nobody did. But that’s the key — if you’re going to make a run, you’re going to play for something at the end of the year, you have to finish — you have to finish.
At the same time, I think, through the season, there were plenty of things that were self-inflicted that we’ll learn from and get better at and we can coach it better. And then at the same time, too, this league — you’ve got to be ready to play, every single week.
