Chris Hemsworth has confirmed that his character Tyler Rake lives in Netflix’s Extraction 2. The first Extraction came out in April 2020, perfectly primed to thrill audiences who were stuck at home during early COVID-19 related lockdowns in America. Directed by stunt performer Sam Hargrave and based on a graphic novel co-written by Anthony and Joe Russo, who also adapted the screenplay, Extraction stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary hired to rescue and protect Ovi, the son of an Indian drug lord who was kidnapped at a club and taken to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
As of July 2020, Netflix released data to reveal that Extraction was their biggest movie ever. With numbers like that, it only makes sense that the streaming service would greenlight a follow-up. However, until now it wasn’t clear if Tyler Rake himself would be returning. Though the ending of the original film left his fate ambiguous, with audiences wondering whether he’d live to see a sequel, Extraction 2 was set to begin filming last Fall with or without him.
