Spider-Man: No Way Home was praised for its VFX, and now the movie’s VFX supervisor reveals a small, hidden change in the Daredevil cameo.
The visual effects supervisor of Spider-Man: No Way Home reveals how its Daredevil cameo changed in post-production. Directed by Jon Watts, No Way Home saw Tom Holland in his sixth MCU performance as Spider-Man accidentally fractures the multiverse while trying to recover from the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. After the movie’s release last December, No Way Home broke box office records and became the highest-grossing film in 2021, the sixth highest-grossing film of all time, and the second-highest domestic box office opening of all time. In addition to its commercial success, Spider-Man: No Way Home was nominated for a large variety of awards including Best Visual Effects at the 94th Academy Awards.
One factor contributing to No Way Home‘s immense success was the number of cameos by other Marvel characters in the movie. In particular, No Way Home’s Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) cameo was nominated for Most Memorable Scene at the 2021 Golden Schmoes Awards. In this scene, while Murdock offers Peter Parker legal advice, a brick bursts through the window into the apartment. Murdock demonstrates his super reflexes and catches the brick inches from Peter’s outstretched fingers. Although this scene is short and straightforward, the production’s visual effects supervisor revealed a hidden change made in post-production.
