As a conservative, I’m used to “absorbing” the other side’s point of view, but what I find insulting is the assumption that those of us on the “right” side are just plain stupid. The latest example: removing the mask mandate from the Capitol the day before the president was to give his State of the Union address. Come on. Don’t insult our intelligence with that phony move. The science didn’t change, the politics did.

The front page article, “Segregated Cincinnati,” (Feb. 27), was very welcome and sadly long overdue. If reporting like that existed 50 years ago, we’d be living in a different city and country. Overwhelming and shocking as this recounting of history is, it’s only part of the story. The concept of affordable housing depends, of course, on what income people have to begin with, and discrimination in employment and education were the bedrock foundations of racism in Cincinnati and elsewhere, and vestiges remain.
