The Northman director Robert Eggers says that he can’t stand his feature film debut, The Witch. The art-house film director made waves with his first major motion picture The Witch, and followed that up with the critical darling The Lighthouse, starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. Eggers’ highly anticipated action revenge drama, The Northman, will be releasing in theaters this month and will reunite the director with Anya Taylor-Joy.
Released in 2016, The Witch proved to be an outstanding first attempt at a full-length feature film. The story centers around a New England Puritan family in the 1630s. After the family is banished from their community, and set up their secluded homestead in the nearby woods, they are soon targeted by a witch who kidnaps their youngest child. The Witch was well-received by critics and did well at the box office, garnering over $40 million on a $4 million budget.
