Denton (Texas) Guyer Top247 safety Peyton Bowen announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon, which sees the Irish move to No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings early in the 2023 cycle.
Bowen is commit No. 8 for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish in the junior class and is one of the jewels, ranked as the nation’s No. 4 safety and No. 58 prospect overall by the 247Sports Composite.
“Peyton has that it factor,” Guyer head coach Rodney Webb stated. Bowen contributed mightily in all three facets in helping his team advance to the state title game in the Lone Star State’s largest class. “He’s got a tremendous skill set. He can run really well. He’s a well put together kid. A lot of kids have those qualities. He’s got his intuition as a football player, his ball skills as a defensive back.
“If Peyton played offense for us, and there was a time when I first started at Guyer, I didn’t know if he’d be an offensive or defensive guy, but he played defense because I felt like we needed it more. If he played receiver he’d be getting recruited at the same level. He’s a tremendous ball skill guy. Tremendous kick returner. His intuition that he plays with is really what sets him apart. He’s one step faster than anyone else on the field, some of that is God given and a lot of it is his instincts.”
