One Penn State offensive lineman has made his transfer decision. Walk-on offensive lineman Will Knutsson has announced that he is transferring to Northern Colorado. Knutsson walked on at Penn State in the 2018 season and redshirted as a true freshman.
Knutsson didn’t see any game action with the Nittany Lions, but he was the Developmental Squad Offensive Player of the Week twice in the 2020 season, according to the team’s official website. Although Penn State loses Knutsson to the transfer portal, the team did add former Cornell offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad earlier this offseason.
Between the NCAA Transfer Portal and NIL deals, college football has undergone a rapid change, and Penn State head coach James Franklin has called for a more unified set of rules across the board. Franklin preached for an added structure to bring equal opportunities to the sport while on the Rich Eisen Show.
“The reality is you’d like for everybody to be playing by the same rules, and you’d like for the student-athletes to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that they have — and maybe an opportunity that they might not have after college,” Franklin said.
