RockStock, Muskegon’s homegrown, blue collar, rock ‘n’ roll festival isn’t returning this year but is looking at a return in August 2023.
The festival at Heritage Landing has offered July Fourth fireworks, classic and hard rock music, adult beverages and family-friendly prices.
Muskegon RockStock, which grew from humble roots first established at Hackley Park in 2008, had its most ambitious year in 2019. That’s when it added a carnival to its festivities.
But then the COVID pandemic hit. RockStock, like other festivals, was canceled in 2020 and 2021 and in the meantime another July Fourth festival moved in.
The WeDiscover Festival on Western Avenue was held for the first time in 2021, featuring electronic dance music and an exotic car show. The city of Muskegon kicked in $60,000 for a downtown fireworks display that replaced the one at RockStock.
WeDiscover, a production of Luxury Rally Club and Hot Import nights, will return July 1-3 this year.
But RockStock is taking another year’s break, said Brandon Baskin, owner of B. Baskin Enterprises that organized RockStock along with several other returning festivals.
