Auburn has found another quarterback. Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada announced Thursday his commitment to the Tigers, Tweeting out a graphic featuring an edit of him in an Auburn uniform.
Calzada entered the transfer portal Dec. 13 after three years with the Aggies. He started in the final 10 games of the 2021 season after preseason starter Haynes King suffered an injury earlier on in the year.
The veteran signal caller opened up on his decision to enter the portal after news broke.
“I have THE MOST love for Texas A&M, my (coaches), teammates, and anybody who has been a part of this process,” Calzada wrote on Twitter. “From the bottom of my heart…Thank you to the 12th man.”
Calzada earned a 247Sports transfer grade of 88, making him the No. 63 prospect in the portal and the No. 11 available quarterback. He finished the 2021 season with 2,185 passing yards and 17 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He also rushed for a touchdown in 2021, that coming against Mississippi State Oct. 2.
