UCF’s big week continues. After Gus Malzahn’s squad took down in-state foe Florida at the Gasparilla Bowl, the Knights picked up their first commitment in the class of 2023 as four-star pass rusher Kaven Call gave a verbal pledge to UCF on Christmas Day.
Call, who the 247Sports Composite pegs as the nation’s No. 24 edge for the next cycle, picked the Knights over nearly a dozen other scholarship offers including ones from Georgia, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Boston College and the aforementioned Gators.
“I like everything,” Call told 247Sports when asked why UCF. “I got family that goes there. Teammates that go there. People I played against that go there. The community is tight. I love the coaching staff. I love Coach Gus. I love the d-line coach and the d-ends coach. And then, you know, they are arguably the top program in Florida right now. So, that’s a plus. That really what stands out to me.”
