We all reach crazy conclusions and overreact in college football, but we also know teams and coaches evolve week to week and no two performances are created equal.
Fans and media members (myself included) are not immune to incorrect summaries or point-blank criticism in the immediate wake of games, particularly early in a season. Not every post-game atmosphere is polluted with hot air, however. Coaches and players can also be refreshingly honest and blunt, providing us a guiding light as we navigate unpredictable waters for the next several months.
But sometimes there is more meaning behind their words. Sometimes they’re holding back. And sometimes they’re saying too much.
