Doctor Strange 2 director Sam Raimi explains why he welcomed improvisation on the set of the Marvel film. The director is known for his cult horror hits like The Gift, Drag Me to Hell, and the Evil Dead series, which started with the 1981 film. He is also well-known for directing the Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man trilogy from 2002 to 2007. Though Scott Derrickson originally planned to return to write and direct the Doctor Strange sequel, he dropped out due to creative differences, and Sam Raimi was brought on to replace him.
Officially titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU Phase 4 film is shaping up to be a companion piece of sorts to the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Sorcerer Supreme alongside Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. It has also been known for some time that Elizabeth Olsen will be making her first appearance as Scarlet Witch since WandaVision. Loki‘s trio of Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino are also reportedly appearing.
