A busy summer calendar of community programs awaits Bexley residents.
The city and the Bexley Celebrations & Events nonprofit organization have planned a variety of programs, including the annual Main Event movie and entertainment series, cultural festivals and new events.
“This is our most filled event calendar ever,” Mayor Ben Kessler said. “We’re partnering with community organizations to make it happen.”
“The Bexley Community Foundation has stepped up and is sponsoring the entire (Main Event) season, along with other organizations,” said Michael Price, the city’s recreation director.
The festival season will kick off with the Asian and Pacific Islander Festival at 6 p.m. May 13 at the Bexley Public Library, 2411 E. Main St.
“It will be in the library parking lot with cultural activities, food and music,” Kessler said.
The Main Event series, held monthly each summer on the front lawn of Capital University at the intersection of East Main Street and College Avenue, will launch June 3 with a screening of the movie Disney/Pixar film “Luca.”
Before the screening at dusk, entertainment will include music by local band Fair Weather, arts and crafts, games and inflatable rides for children.
