Twilight star Ashley Greene reveals that co-star Taylor Lautner was once in jeopardy of being recast in the film franchise. The 2008 romantic fantasy drama stars Kristen Stewart, who portrays the human Bella Swan. Starring alongside Stewart is Robert Pattinson as Bella’s vampire love interest Edward Cullen and Lautner as Jacob Black, a Native American with the ability to shapeshift into a werewolf. The Twilight saga spans five films, assembling a larger and more loyal fanbase with each new release. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 brought the fantasy tale to a close in 2012.
The initial casting for Twilight was an endeavor in itself, although Stewart seemingly won the role of Bella right away. Casting for Edward and Jacob ultimately developed into a more in-depth journey. Henry Cavill was considered for the role of Edward, with Pattinson eventually filling the slot instead. And while Greene ultimately captured the role of Edward’s clairvoyant adoptive sister Alice Cullen, Twilight series author Stephanie Meyer originally envisioned Rachel Leigh Cook for the part. Lautner is now synonymous with the role of Jacob, but things could have been quite different.
